India moves to stop Ravi waters to Pak as Shahpur Kandi dam nears finish

India is set to redirect surplus Ravi river water, previously flowing into Pakistan, to its own drought-prone regions once the Shahpur Kandi dam becomes operational. This significant move, expected by March 31, will irrigate vast areas in Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir, marking a strategic shift in water resource management following a policy change regarding the Indus Waters Treaty.
